S. ValentinoS. Valentino alla Muta has been a renowned summer destination since the turn of the 20th Century. Through the construction of the "Vinschger Bahn", the Val Venosta railways, S. Valentino is now also advertised as a winter destination of Merano town.
Winter sports in S. Valentino has had a long tradition, also due to the ski club founded in 1905, which is now one of the oldest ski clubs in the Alps.
However, also the Romans stopped in S. Valentino. Apparently a horse sleigh station was said to have been in “Villetta”, a small village part of S. Valentino, during Roman times.
